MY 2021 GOALS
August 11, 2021A few months ago, I decided to embark on a journey of self-discovery. As a new mother in Japan, I found myself very lost and very far from home both physically and spiritually. So, I decided that my first step was to redefine my values, which will act as a compass on this journey. My next step is to draw the map. Where am I, and where do I want to go?
So, today, I want to share with everyone my life-time goals, and for those who are super curious, please consider joining my Patreon. I will be sharing my five year plan in all its glory!
Lifetime Goal #1: Maintain a balanced and healthy mind/physique.
Eventual Tangible Goal: Spend equal amounts of time toward work/family/myself.
This goal is very important to me as a full-time working mom. I often find myself being pulled in a million different directions and wanting to please everyone and do it all. I spent the majority of last year burnt out, frustrated, and resentful. So, this year, I'm staying centered, so that I can provide myself and others with a well rested and fulfilled me.
Lifetime Goal #2: Authentically express myself and my experiences
Eventual Tangible Goal: Write a book
I have always wanted to write a book, but I realize that it all starts with being able to write authentically. Sometimes I write with the intention of giving people what they want to read instead of what I want to write. Well, that changes this year! I have decided to invest in myself and my writing.
Lifetime Goal #3: Provide a healthy environment for my family.
Eventual Tangible Goal: Speak N1 level Japanese. Be in healthy relationships with others.
As an intercultural family, it is so important for me that we are in a healthy space. I won't lie, my husband and I clash a lot, but I am dedicated to being able to communicate more effectively and overcome some of the cultural and linguistic barriers we often find ourselves in.
Lifetime Goal #4: Be able to merge with a common humanity while at the same time, maintain a strong identity and sense of self.
Eventual Tangible Goal: Obtain regular contacts and a support system outside the home.
As a foreigner in Japan, it is so easy for me to feel isolated and alone, but I want that to change. I love interacting with the community, giving back, and sharing my experience with others. So, this year, I am learning how to un-isolate myself and find my place within Japanese society society.
If you are interested in seeing how I will achieve these goals, check out my Patreon where you can find my five year plan! I have goals set for one month, six months, one year, and beyond.
