11 MONTH BABY ROUTINE
August 22, 2021Wow, everyone! It is the last baby routine post for a while! Baby Girl will be one year old in just a few short weeks. I am reminded of a quote that states, "The days are long, but the years are short.", and Boy, does that ring true for me! I remember slogging through the sleep deprivation, the nap trapping, and rushing her here and there to the hospital, but looking back today, I can't believe how fast we've arrived! I miss her trying to roll over and the awkward scoot before she could crawl. I miss her laughing and smiling nearly twenty four hours a day. The past few months has been pretty blissful as a parent, so I'm looking forward to the next few months.
7:00 | GOOD MORNING
Yay, Baby Girl has gotten over her early morning wakes this past two months! We have to be careful though because she wakes up so quietly and has started to stand in her crib and gnaw on the rail while she waits for us. I woke her up one morning and was like, "What are all these white flakes on your face?", and lo and behold it's paint. So, now we are on the search for rail covers, which is proving to be difficult since cribs are not popular here in Japan.
7:00-8:00 | BREAKFAST
She's still on finely chopped food and 200 ML of milk. I don't know when my husband will move her to finger foods, I honestly can't wait to see her try and feed her self! We had also introduced pre-packaged baby food for the first time too! She loves it, of course! So, now my husband is trying to cook up tastier and more elaborate dishes. I'll share her favorite recipes in a new post!
8:00-10:00 | MORNING ACTIVITIES
As you can see, her wake window has extended to a full three hours! Therefore, we take her on her morning walk, and just try to play with her leisurely if she doesn't go to daycare. She enjoys cruising and playing with toys while standing up. So, we have a lot of toys that she can hold onto, like a push walker!
10:00-11:00 | NAP 1
We have now capped her first nap at one hour. Honestly, it does seem a little short, but we've tried 1hr 1/2, and then she doesn't sleep well for her next nap or at night. So, to be on the safe side, we just wake her up at one hour.
11:00-12:00 | LUNCH
She usually gets the same thing as breakfast and 200 ML milk. Sometimes if she is too hungry, we'll give her the milk first and she'll sometimes eat her solids after. It's kind of hit or miss because she has a cold right now and I think the phlegm kind of ruins the experience of eating right now.
12:00-2:00 | AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES
We've been taking her on a quick run to the grocery store. She loves facing forward in the carrier and just watching all the people and colorful packaging. Once we get home, I'll plan a kind of more elaborate activity for her like playing her in pool, swimming in the bathtub or introducing a new toy I made for her.
2:00-3:00 | NAP 2
Once again, we wake her up after an hour. She honestly still seems soo tired after this nap, but we've learned from our mistake of letting her sleep longer, so up she goes!
3:00-3:30 | BOTTLE + SNACK TIME
I am trying to introduce a snack time so that she can learn how to feed herself. I give her little snacks that she can practice picking up. Right now, she just plays with them, but I think she'll start eating more once we wean her from milk.
3:30-6:00 | EVENING ACTIVITIES
Since her last wake window is four hours, we can plan a lot more in the evening. We just have fun around the house since it is blazing hot outside! We begin her nighttime routine about one hour and a half before dinner. So, it usually begins at 5 with a bath, and then she turns off the lights in the bathroom, etc. and gets ready for dinner.
6:00-7:00 | DINNER AND CLEAN UP
Dinner includes solids plus 200ML, and sometimes it goes well but sometimes she's too tired from daycare to eat the solids. After eating, we are tying to get her in the habit of putting away toys, covering them, and saying goodnight.
7:00 | BEDTIME
Bedtime has been hit or miss. Sometimes she is out like a light for the entire night. But one time she woke up like 3 times before midnight! We think that was the day she had 3hrs of nap instead of 2hrs. Also, she has a bad runny nose, cough, and teething, so I'm sure she is just miserable!
