BABY 8 MONTH OLD ROUTINE
May 16, 2021
Aki turned 8 months a few days ago, and for once I'm ahead of the schedule when sharing what her routine looks like! Recently we've been in and out of clinics due to her fevers and cough. Also, there was a stomach bug at her nursery, so we went to the clinic to check up on that (She didn't catch it!). So, she's on several medications right now, and we don't know what other things will be thrown at us, so I'll just give you a rough outline of her day!
5:00-6:00 GOOD MORNING
We are still dealing with early morning wake ups. Sometimes she will sleep until 6:00, but she'll mostly wake up around 5:15 or 5:30. We used to leave her in her crib until 6:00, but if I'm up, I'll just get her and hang out.
6:00-7:00 | MOMMY PLAY TIME
Since I'm already up because of work, she hangs out with me, and Dad gets another hour of sleep. We stay in the nursery, so she plays with the limited toys that are in there.
7:00-7:30 | BREAKFAST
This is when all the magic happens. We begin with her weaning. She is still getting ground food (not quite pureed anymore). Right now, she is eating wakame (seaweed), seabream, and rice. She's not really a big fan of the combo, but it could be because of the medicine OR she might be ready to move onto food she can feed herself. We always finish with a 240ml bottle of formula, which she gulps down with ease.
7:30-8:00 | DADDY PLAY TIME
Her day at daycare begins at 8:30, so this is when she'll play a little and dad gets her ready for day care. I plan to do a "what's in her daycare" bag in the near future!
8:30-4:30 | DAY CARE
At nursery school, she takes about 2 naps totaling 2 hours and goes on a walk everyday. She's gotten a lot better with the napping, and she is learning how to survive on only 2hrs of naps. My husband picks her up, and he says she is always super excited and looking around as they walk home. If she doesn't have daycare, she takes a nap every 3 1/2 hours, and all major events (going out, appointments) are done in the morning after her first nap.
5:00-6:00 | WELCOME HOME + BATH TIME
If her last nap was more than three hours ago, we put her straight to bed. We're finding out this doesn't always work out because she will treat it as a nap, and then she won't go to bed until 8-9pm. So, we pray that we have time to get her bathed, fed, and then put to bed between 6:00-7pm.
6:00-7:00 | WINDING DOWN
If she's still cheerful after her bath, this is when she plays a bit, has a bottle around 6:30, and then we let it digest until 7:00. Aki has always struggled with digestion issues, so it's so important for her to have time to digest, get gas out, etc.
7:00-5:00AM | GOOD NIGHT
For the past week or so, she's been going to bed with ZERO fuss. We don't know what happened. Literally, we just lay her down in her crib, and she's out like a light in 1-2minutes. No crying, no fussing, no fighting, etc. My husband thinks maybe she got bored of her new skill, which was pull to stand. I, however, am convinced it's the probiotic the doctor put her on... She just seems so comfortable (less gas and less runny stool), and I honestly want to ask the doctor if we can keep her on it just in case.
So, that's what a day roughly looks like! She's trying to stand up by herself, and while she still plays independently the majority of the time, she does get obviously frustrated and does a high pitch whine until we help her or redirect her. Overall, 8 months started out great! We know teething is right around the corner, so we won't get too happy. But, I am totally enjoying these fuss free nights.
