HOW TO PAY JAPANESE BILLS ONLINE | JAPAN POST
November 01, 2019Although most of my bills are directly debited from my bank account here in Japan, I do have a few that need to be paid at the convenience store (Or so I thought). Today, I want to share with you a convenient way to pay your bills online using Pay-Easy and Japan Post online banking.
STEP 0: LOOK FOR EASY-PAY LOGO
Before you go through this guide, please look for the Easy-Pay logo on the bill. For this guide I am using my pension premium bill and my NTT internet bill as a reference. Not all bills can be paid online using Easy-Pay.
This is a pension bill.
This is my internet bill
The first step is to sign up for online banking if you haven't already. This is a bit of a complicated process for Japan Post and takes about one to two weeks to complete. However, once you've gotten through the sign-up process, it's very convenient!
STEP 2: SIGN IN TO YOUR ONLINE BANKING
First you need to sign into your online banking account. This is the website for Japan Post here. In addition to your login information, you will need your "Customer Number/お客さま番号" that was sent to you in the mail.
STEP 3: CLICK ON 税金・各種料金の払込み
On the left hand side of the screen, you should see the "Easy-Pay" logo and the words "税金・各種料金の払込み", which means "Payment of taxes and other charges". Click on the link.
STEP 4: ENTER 収納機関番号
You will then be prompted to enter the five digit identification number called "収納機関番号". Click next.
STEP 5: ENTER 納付番号 AND 確認番号
STEP 5: CONFIRM AND CHOOSE ACCOUNT
The next screen displays your name, the company that is billing you, and the amount you will be paying. Click on the account (checking, savings, etc.) that you want to use to pay the bill. Click next.
STEP 6: RECEIVE ONE TIME PASSWORD
The next screen notifies you that you will be sent a one time password to the e-mail address you registered for online banking. Check the e-mail and input the password.
STEP 7: COMPLETE AND PRINT
The next screen will show a successful payment confirmation, and I recommend you print the screen, as they will not send or provide you with a receipt.
Now, you are finished! Now you can easily pay bills from the convenience of your home!
